Esri Conference Review 2024

GIS Trends & Highlights

"The Power of Where"

The Esri Conference 2024, which took place on November 27 and 28 at the World Conference Center Bonn, is always a special meeting place for the German-speaking GIS community with its diverse program.

Under the motto "The Power of Where", innovative GIS solutions, practice-oriented applications and current trends were presented again this year. For Nexiga, this is always a valuable opportunity to network and exchange ideas with many experts.

Highlights of the event

There were inspiring keynotes and success stories from companies such as STRABAG, GeoSN and 1&1 Versatel that showed how GIS technologies can be used to optimize construction projects, create digital twins and improve telecommunication processes.

Another special highlight was the keynote speech by Frank Busemann, silver medal winner in the decathlon (1996 Olympics in Atlanta), and Tom Liebscher-Lucz, current and three-time Olympic champion in canoe racing. They spoke about the principles of success in sport for work and everyday life and gave insights into how to tackle major challenges and overcome hurdles.

The Esri Conference 2024 continued to offer a host of hands-on presentations in the "Technology in Action" tracks, where innovative ArcGIS applications and solutions for areas such as asset and network management, environmental protection, real estate management and site analysis were presented.

The Product and Partner Expo and the Solution Stage, which included a presentation by Gernot Hilpisch on the topic of "Open data - new opportunity or new challenge?", offered in-depth insights into GIS innovations with data expertise and created numerous opportunities for networking and dialog with experts and partners.

Overall, the conference demonstrated the versatile application possibilities of GIS technologies and their integration in tools such as Microsoft Teams, Office 365 (Excel) and Power BI. The mixture of technological depth, practical insights and inspiring presentations underlined the importance of GIS solutions for overcoming current and future challenges.

We were particularly pleased that some customer presentations focused on the topic of data with practical GIS applications in areas such as infrastructure networks, sustainability strategies, real estate and location evaluation, also highlighting the relevance of Nexiga data, such as consumption centers and public transport stopsfor specific planning, for example in radio network planning.

Nexiga was highlighted as a versatile and powerful "tool for geodata" that plays a central role in numerous application areas.
