Reaching the goal with commitment and team spirit

Naturally, one wonders what Nexiga associates with the German women's eight rowing team. The question is perfectly justified, but the answer is simple: a good partnership and a model of inexhaustible team spirit.

The German women's eight at the 2021 European Championships in Italy: Alexandra Höffgen, Sophie Oksche, Melanie Göldner, Anna Härtl, Alyssa Meyer, Frauke Hundeling, Marie-Cathérine Arnold, Ida Kruse and Larina Hillemann (coxswain). In the middle of their preparations for the Olympic qualifiers, the team took 5th place in Varese.

The start-up company DigiKoo (DigiKoo stands for digital cooperation and is part of the Eon subsidiary Westenergie Netzservice GmbH) and Nexiga have now found a sporting way to express their common goals as part of their data-driven partnership. It is not only in the finely granular data exchange that takes place between us in the context of innovative energy applications that we are making common cause. Ae also combine enthusiasm for sport and team spirit with social responsibility and change with our joint commitment to the Women's Eight Germany.

Let's move on to the outstanding team spirit of these eight power women. As different as they are - from sports therapist to policewoman to mechanical engineer - they have a wide variety of professions and career aspirations. They are all united in pursuing their goal. Unfortunately, the balancing act between social and performance-related recognition in the context of financial support is still too great.

This makes it all the more impressive to maintain the highest level of performance even under difficult pandemic conditions. With our due recognition, we would therefore like above all to attract more public attention and popularity.

The fruits of tireless commitment

In October 2019, Australian Tom Morris took over the team as the new national coach. His approach was to introduce a new team culture - to redefine the rules of cooperation. A lucky coincidence that literally turned the tide in time.

A year later, the women surprisingly won silver at the European Championships. Since then, all goals have been subordinated to qualifying for the Olympics. Fifth place at the European Championships in Varese this year - right in the middle of preparations - is an important first step towards Tokyo 2021.

Our support and best wishes are not dependent on medals, but on the team spirit and the impressive history of this team. Anyone who would like to join us is cordially invited to do so on the Row to Tokyo supporter page - and to secure one of the beautiful supporter pieces as a thank you.
